Since the European Union's Nutrition and Health Claims Regulation, ((EC) No 1924/2006), came into being it has unearthed a number of challenges for regulators and industry alike. Its main objectives included consumer protection, increasing innovationand the protection of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs). However, in the three years of its implementation, very little has been accomplished and many elements remain unresolved or open to speculation.
