摘要

Paris-The world's industrialized countries agreed during a mid-June chemical policy meeting to push forward with nascent efforts to promote a standardized identification system for genetically modified crops and to re-evaluate the effectiveness of mutually-accepted documents on GM crop content and composition. Government officials attending the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development's annual chemicals meeting said that the decision to push forward with the "unique identifier" for GM crops will add transparency to marketing efforts and could help dispel ongoing suspicion of the use of biotechnology in agriculture.
