Your future employees may acquire all the necessary skills they need in an online teaching laboratory. UPON deciding to work in the wine industry, Kathryn House began looking into her course of study at Washington State University, wondering if she and her fellow students would be ready to hit the ground running. "Are we really going to be prepared when get out?" the 26-year-old master's degree candidate recalls. "That's when I started the Virtual Vineyard." She wanted to prepare an educational modelthat would allow students to make all the decisions required in planting a vineyard. She also wanted to make it available online so they could do it during their own time. First off, she decided if this was really going to be a useful course, she neededto know exactly what the students should get out of it. So she surveyed people in the viticulture industry and asked them, "If you were going to hire a student with a four-year degree, what should they know?"
