摘要

Using a cell line which stably expresses the full length equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) glycoprotein gB gene, a gB- viral mutant L11DELTAgB was produced in which a 2.1-kb BglII-NruI fragment in EHV-1 strain RacL 11 gB was replaced with the Escherichia coli lacZ gene, and a cell line that expresses only the extracellular portion of gB (amino acids 1 to 844), the function of gB was investigated in EHV-1 strain RacL11 and a modified live vaccine strain RacH. Results indicate that EHV-1 gB may not be as stringently required for virus penetration as its homologues in other Alphaherpesvirinae.
