This limited edition Caddy doesn't come cheap, but it provides a very special combination of panache and practicality along with a high level of driving appeal and comfort... FIRST SEEN at the Frankfurt Show in September 2011, the Caddy Edition 30 is a special model to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Caddy, the model name that was first launched in 1982 as a pickup version of the Mk 1 Golf, the Type 14, also available with a detachable hardtop. The first true full-blown van version of the Caddy, the Type 9K - built at the SEAT factory in Martorell alongside its sister, the Inca - was introduced in 1995, followed later by a pick-up version, the Type 9U, based on the Skoda Felicia. The current, third generation (Type 2K), based on the Mk 5 Golf/Touran, appeared in 2003, with the addition of the long-wheelbase Caddy Maxi in 2007, and was further revised with a facelift in 2010. Not only striking in appearance, the Caddy Edition 30 is also very exclusive, with only a limited number of examples of this special edition model available in the UK. There's some discrepancy with the figures, though; the press release refers to 117, while the promotional brochure gives a figure of 150, which may cause some mild controversy in years to come.
