MY FIRST CAR was a little 1.1 Saxo but since then it has been all Golfs - first a Mk 41.4, then a Mk 51.9 TDI, Mk 51.4 TSI and on to my current car the Mk 5 GTI Edition 30, as I do really like the VW build quality. When I decided to change from the 1.4 TSI, I chose the GTI because it is the pinnacle of hot hatches, in my opinion. It is not in-your-face screaming power but is more refined than its rivals - on the inside, it is a very powerful machine. Top that off with the extras on the Edition 30 and it is hard to find any faults.
