Alleviating disability through Microsoft PowerPoint: the story of one quadriplegic man in Oman

The image shown in Figure l1 represents the idea that disabled individuals are a fundamental part of society, and that society might collapse without their presence and contributions. The image appeared in Challenge (2002), the third publication by the Omani Association for the Disabled, and its' symbolism is consistent with the convictions expressed by the government of Oman, an Islamic Arab country with a population of approximately 2,903,000 that is situated on the Arabian Peninsula. The Omani government does indeed believe that its disabled citizens should be more fully incorporated into society at large, with social obstacles and stigmas lifted.
