Fundamental principles of WWER primary water chemistry controls were developed in 1960s by prominent Russian scientists B.A. Alekseev and E.S. Chernorotov with colleagues in the Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy in co-operation with some other organizations [1 to 8]. Fruitful technical co-operation of some East European research centres was initiated by the Committee for Peaceful Use of Atomic Energy within the scope of the Council of Economic Assistance activity. During 1960 to 1970s, the fundamental principles and practical tasks of WWER nuclear power engineering were developed within intensive investigations. In the mid-1960s water chemistry compatibility with zirconium fuel clad were tested in the loop of MR experimental reactor under irradiation.
