Viewpoint: Preparing for the World Trade Organisation - growth, progress and prospects for the Ukrainian tube industry

I am sure that many readers of Tube & I Pipe Technology, including tube and pipe engineers, are undoubtedly well aware of the state of the tube industry in the Ukraine that - beginning from the 60s and 70s of the last century - has achieved a leading position within the world's tube and pipe producers. A lot of facts and figures have been published from different sources of information about the Ukrainian tube and pipe industry. Some of them would seem to be rather out-of-date. But nevertheless it is important to focus on the fact that today tube and pipe manufacturing in the Ukraine has been concentrated into two main groups of enterprises - the result of a general reorganisation of the Ukrainian economy and process of developing more sophisticated marketing relations.
