Durham Engineering Skills Play Vital Role in Deepwater Oil Production

Two County Durham engineering companies are to play a major role in one of the world's most exciting deepwater oil and gas production projects.Whilst Shildon-based Solatron ISA have been responsible for the design and manufacturing, Advantica Technologies, Bishop Auckland Test Facility then calibrated the vital subsea gas metering equipment for the 88km Canyon Express Pipeline System. The dual 12 inch, 88km pipeline, which is expected to come on stream in the summer of 2002, will link and allow the development of three deepwater natural gas fields in the Gulf of Mexico, some 120 miles south of New Orleans in water depths of up to 2,200m to a central production platform and then to the mainland USA.
