A recent development of Redman Controls, UK, has heralded improvements in their automatic bellows-welding machine using TIG weld. This machine is an automated system for the OD edge welding of a bellows stack, using video cameras for indexing, seam following and viewing. It comprises a purpose built lathe unit, with chuck holding, a mandrel mounted with bellows stack, a pneumatic positioned tailstock, a slide assembly holding the weld torch and video cameras, and a control and computer system with a touch control flat screen monitor. When set-up and operational, the slide system is able to move along a bellows stack using a video camera to control stopping and positioning at each individual bellow segment.
