摘要

US SUBCONTRACTOR Pensacola Concrete recently rose to the challenge of replacing an ageing sewer main in St Petersburg, Florida, using a combination of pipe-bursting technologies. The project, subcontracted by Westra, seemed straightforward on the surface and, with proper planning, a job that could be executed successfully. However, after further investigation by Lyle LaForge, head project manager for Pensacola Concrete, the 255 mm-diameter PVC and clay pipe mains were found to contain stretches encased in concrete. Several of the manholes would also have to be abandoned. The pipe-bursting project to replace the 255 mm-diameter pipe with a 405 mm-diameter DIPS high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe was becoming more challenging.
