UK - By replacing a belt driven single fan cooling system in a Volvo B7TL Euro 3 double deck bus with a Grayson/Comesys electronic fan cooling module, this improves fuel performance by around 10%, according to Grayson Thermal Systems of Tyseley, UK. Assessment of the fan performance of two Euro 3 double deck vehicles (Volvo B7TL and ADL Trident body) in operation in the same location during a 48 period revealed the fan was running at full revolutions per minute (rev/min) for 50% of the time the vehicle was in service, used approximately 20hp of the engine to run the fan system and 6% of the fuel used by the vehicle each day.
