Daimler has reported a group net profit of EUR1.4bn (2007: EUR4.0bn) in 2008 on a revenue of EUR95.9bn (2007: EUR99.4bn). Daimler Trucks did not achieve the earnings achieved in 2007. This, says the company, was primarily due to the difficult economic situation in the United States and expenses incurred for the repositioning of its activities in the NAFTA region. The development of earnings was positive at Daimler Financial Services and the Mercedes-Benz Vans and Daimler Buses units. The Group reports that Daimler Trucks was again the world's largest manufacturer in the medium- and heavy-duty truck segment in 2008 selling 472,100 vehicles and posting revenue of EUR28.6bn (2007: 467,700 units and EUR28.5bn).
