Movement within cities is a complex science and is making greater use of information technology. Developments in this field can have benefits for parking. All cities in the world are following the same growth pathway so far as mobility is concerned. The Megacities Challenges report commissioned by Siemens for the 2006 Davos World Economic Forum showed this clearly. Global trends such as urbanisation, the ageing population and motorisation can be traced from their emergence in developing cities to become major influencing factors in developed cities. The same applies to social trends like personal lifestyles and all of this is relevant when looking at the provision of parking in the future.
