STLE's scientific and technical journal, Tribology Transactions, marks its 50th anniversary in 2007. While this venerable publication may not be as high profile as TLT magazine or the STLE Annual Meeting, Transactions continues to play an instrumental role as STLE pursues its mission to advance the science of tribology and the practice of lubrication engineering in order to foster innovation, improve the performance of equipment and products, conserve resources and protect the environment. When the journal began publishing in 1957, it was known as ASLE Transactions, a reflection of STLE's former name (American Society of Lubrication Engineers). The journal made the switch to Tribology Transactions in 1987 in conjunction with an organizational name change.
