摘要

The 6th edition of the Atlas of Tropical Medicine and Parasitology is clearly a testimony to the value and usefulness of a volume with an outstanding and comprehensive collection of photographs, micrographs (mostly all in colour), charts, tables and concise annotations on infections caused by bacteria, fungi, rickettsia, viruses, parasites, poisonous animals and selected nutritional and miscellaneous disorders encountered in tropical countries. Several underlying factors add to the importance of this atlas for physicians, laboratory medicine scientists, public health practitioners and the scientific and research community in understanding the significance and impact of the changing environment on infectious diseases and other clinical disorders previously confined to tropical areas.
