LiDAR Meets NERC Alert

Utilities charged with verifying 450,000 miles of transmission line in six months. The North American Electric Reliability Corp. (NERC) recently had an epiphany. It discovered there can be significant discrepancies between the transmission line designs from the engineering department and what is actually built in the field. Interestingly, this discovery is not a surprise to anyone involved with the construction portion of the utility industry.
