Identification of a novel HLA-B*4608 allele in the Chinese population.

Human leukocyte antigen B (HLA-B) is the most polymorphic locus in the HLA system, with more than 728 alleles identified at present. HLA-B46 allele is common allele among Oriental ethnic populations (1). To date, eight HLA-B*46 alleles (B*4601-B*4608) have been identified (http:// www.ebi.ac. uk/imgt/hla), all of the cells sequenced for B*46 alleles were of Asian origin. Here, we present a novel HLA-B allele which has been identified in the Chinese population.
