Untersuchungen zum metaphylaktischen Einsatz von Tulathromycin vergleichend zu oraler Medikation bei Mastschweinen hinsichtlich der Parameter Lungengesundheit und Mastleistung

Recurrent problems with porcine respiratory diseases occurred at two fattening sides in Northwest-Germany. The metaphylactic use of Tulathromycin (Draxxin (R), Pfizer) was compared to oral medication with CTC and Sulfadiazin-Trimethoprim. On the first fattening side data were analysed with emphasis on parameters of lung health as pneumonia- and pleurisy-score. The second fattening side was observed according the duration of fattening, slaughter weight and losses. On the first side 1,393 pigs were taken into account and 426 pigs on the second one. Significantly greater numbers of Tulathromycin-treated pigs, compared to oral medicated pigs, had a better pulmonary health, reduced mortality and a significant shorter fattening period.
