IP to Close S.C. Box Plant

International Paper Co. (IP), Memphis, Tenn., will shutdown its Wellford, S.C., corrugated container plant in mid- to late November, GoUpstate.com reports. The decision to close the 51-year-old plant is a strategic move for the company based on its excess capacity in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, said IP's Regional General Manager David Bowen in a written statement.
