IP to close three box, one sheet plants as Temple consolidation continues

International Paper (IP) this week slated permanent shutdowns of three corrugated container plants as well as a sheet plant as the company consolidates packaging operations after last year's acquisition of Temple-Inland. The company — the largest container-board and corrugated producer in the world based on capacity — said it will close by mid-year box plants in Indianapolis, Lake Wales, FL, and Kansas City, KS, and a sheet plant in Jacksonville, FL.
