Know Your Students

As much as we might wish for one, there's no formula for optimal teaching. Individuals are too, well, individual for a one-size-fits-ail approach to teaching. Nonetheless, physics education research does provide general guidance as to instructional methods that are likely to be effective. My book Five Easy Lessons: Strategies for Successful Physics Teaching tries to distill 25 years of research into five key ideas that teachers can carry with them into the classroom.
