A closing letter to shoe and accessories marketer Cole Haan updates FTC's position on endorsements and should serve as guidance to all firms that hold social-media contests and promotions, attorneys say. In the March 20 closing letter, the commission takes issue with the firm's "Wandering Sole" contest. Contest entrants were instructed to create Pinterest boards featuring five Cole Haan shoe images and five images of contestants' "favorite places to wander," along with the hashtag ttWanderingSole in pin descriptions for the chance at winning a $1,000 shopping spree.
