Prescribers should follow the current National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence guideline on managing hypertension until any changes are announced,the November issue of MeReC Extra concludes.The advice is issued as part of a review of the blood pressure lowering arm of ASCOT (anglo-scandinavian cardiac outcomes trial).MeReC Extra also considers the value of three-day courses of trimethoprim for simple urinary tract infections in women.
