Under the mechanism agreed by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Council for the election of the Society's Officers,candidates for the presidency are required to produce an address of up to 1,000 words to demonstrate to the Council how they measure up to the job specification and to set out their policies.The following is the address produced by Nicholas Wood for this year's electiont is with a considerable measure of diffidence,but at the urging of many colleagues,that I have allowed my name to go forward for the post of President of the Society.For a past president to stand again for this position is undeniably unusual - but not unprecedented.However,the present situation is unusual and calls for unusual solutions.
