The recent article(PJ,12 June,p731)reporting the results of a meta-analysis of published trials of St John's wort as an antidepressant(Werneke U et al,Jounal of Clinical psychiatry 2004;65:611)appears to suggest that this herbal product is essentially just a placebo.
