INDIAN SURFACTANT GROUP URGES BETTER UTILIZATION OF DOMESTIC OILS FOR OLEOCHEMICALS

The newly formed Indian Surfactant Group (ISG) has urged greater utilization of domestically available oils & fats for the production of oleochemicals. In a recommendation made to the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, which has constituted a Task Force to present a white paper on the status of oleochemical industries in India, the lobby group has pointed out that India is a large producer of certain vegetable oils, which are capable of meeting the requirements of the Indian oleochemical industry, but these resources are currently not used for chemicals manufacture.
