Two Beautiful Native Orchid Species from the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia

The Blue Mountains are about a two hour drive from the bustling city of Sydney. On a clear day they are clearly visible from various parts of the city. The mountains arc mainly sandstone and harbour a very beautiful orchid flora, which is at its bestin late spring and early summer. Most of the species found here are terrestrials but a worthwhile number of epiphytes and lithophytes can also be observed in the area. Among the epiphytic and lithophytic orchids that grow in the Blue Mountains are some of the most attractive orchids known in cultivation. Two of my favourite Australian species are the subjects of this article.
