As previously stated, Graves' disease produces a thyrotoxic state by releasing excessive amounts of thyroid hormone (T3, T4) due to immunoglobulin activation of thyroid receptors. Typical signs and symptoms of Graves' disease, affecting the dermatologic, reproductive, ocular, cardiorespiratory, and central nervous systems, include goiter (enlarged thyroid gland), weight loss despite a good appetite, tachycardia, and fatigue.
