Following 2005, Korea's exports of digital electronic goods exceeded 100 billion U.S. dollars last year, recording the largest-ever surplus in trade. According to a recent report by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE), the nation's annual exports of digital electronic goods reached 114.8 billion U.S. dollars in 2006, up 11.8 percent from 2005, while yearly imports stood at 61.5 billion U.S. dollars last year, a rise of 8.7 percent from a year ago, thus recording a record-high surplus of 53.3 billion U.S. dollars. It is 3.2 times larger than the surplus of 16.7 billion U.S. dollars in the nation's entire trade.
