摘要

POSCO is planning to apply its thermo mechanical controlled process (TMCP) steel as girders to the Ilsan Grand Bridge that will link Kimpo with Ilsan, Kyunggi-do under the scheme to secure annual demand for 100,000 tons of TMCP steel by 2008 bysupplying high-grade plates and intensively developing new demand for them. TMCP steel is high-grade plates for wide use in building construction structure and shipbuilding. Compared with ordinary steel, it has the merit of having excellent weldability to make it possible to do welding works at normal temperature without preheating and reducing the usage of steel products as yielding strength is so high particularlyin the case of thick sheets with over 40mm in thickness, which makes it most suitable for the construction of high-rise buildings.
