Automotive Production Expected to Reach 4.25 Million Units This Year: POSRI

Korea's annual production of automotive vehicles is expected to increase 3.9 percent to 4.25 million units this year and 3.4 percent in the first half of 2009 on a year-on-year basis. According to a recent report by the POSCO Research Institute (POSRI), Korea's automotive sales in 2008 are expected to become more sluggish than forecast earlier both at home and abroad, posting a year-on-year increase of 4.3 percent in the first half of this year and 3.5 percent in the second half. POSRI forecast that the nation's automakers will see an increase of 3.4 percent in output in the first half of 2009 compared with a year ago without making a recovery in sales both at home and abroad.
