China Makes Preliminary Decision to Charge Antidumping Tariffs on CR Imports from 5 Countries including Korea

Chinese government announced May 20 that it made a preliminary decision to charge antidumping tariffs on cold-rolled steel sheet (CR) imports from five countries including Korea, but actual imposition of the antidumping tariff has been postponed until it makes the final decision. Therefore, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE) said that domestic steelmakers CR exports to China are unlikely to get hurt until September 23 when China will announce its final decision on the tariff rates. The announced rates of the antidumping tariff in the preliminary decision on Korean products are different for different companies with POSCOs rate at 10 percent, Union Steel at 9 percent, Dongbu Steel at 14 percent and Hyundai HYSCO at 12 percent.
