Dongbu Steel Pushes Forward with On-line Gas Plant Construction for Change in Securing Gas

Dongbu Steel, which is pushing forward with the construction of electric furnaces and hot-rolled coil (HR) mill at its Dangjin Plant, has decided to change its gas purchasing method. Getting out of the previous practices of steelmakers to directly invest and operate gas plants, Dongbu Steel is pushing ahead with the construction of an on-site gas plant that will be operated by a method of outsourcing a gas supplier in order to secure gas more efficiently. Dongbu Steel is expecting that it will be much helpful for an improvement in its productivity and cost reduction. Its on-site gas plant construction this time is expected to cost about 45 billion won.
