Remembering Connie Van Fleet

What is the measure of a person's life? Is it in their professional success and accolades? Or is it in the impact that they had on the people who crossed their path? Connie Van Fleet wore many hats in her professional career. During the course of her life she worked in the New Orleans Public Library, and she was a professor, a journal editor, and a president of the national organization for her discipline, the Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE). By any measure she was professionally successful. She achieved tenure at three universities, published several books and numerous articles, was nationally known as a leader in her research areas, and received a number of state and national awards. But for those of us who knew her, her students, colleagues, and coworkers, the most extraordinary thing about Connie was her gift with people.
