VEGF inhibition beyond tumour progression

In the past decade, treatment for advanced colorectal cancer has seen the introduction of biological agents like bevacizumab and cetuximab or panitumumab into standard palliative treatment with incremental improvements in outcome for patients with KRAS wild-type metastatic disease. Although most guidelines recommend chemotherapy in combination with a biological agent in the first line and second line, the optimum duration of treatment with these agents remains unclear.
