Communicating well with your teammates not only helps you to keep your cool, but staying on the same page with everyone helps each group member to participate and move things along smoothly. Figuring out productive ways to communicate with your teammates doesn't happen overnight, says Dr. Megan Brooks, an internal medicine resident at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. "The most important thing is to know who your team members are and acknowledge that you are working as part of a team. Above all, treat people with respect," Brooks insists. "Nothing breaks down communication faster than disrespect."
