Cutaneous lipomatous neurofibroma is a rare variant of neurofibroma. Herein, we describe a case of cutaneous lipomatous neurofibroma.A 66-year-old otherwise healthy woman presented with a small nodule on her right neck. Physical examination revealed a dome-shaped, flesh-colored, tender nodule, 5 mm in size, on the right neck (Fig. 1a). On dermoscopy, there were homogenous yellowish patterns in the nodule (Fig. 1 b). The nodule was surgically excised under local anesthesia. Histologically, the nodule was a well-circumscribed and non-encapsulated tumor (Fig. 2a). The tumor mainly consisted of spindle-shaped cells with wavy cytoplasm and elongated nuclei intermingled with many mast cells. In addition, vacuolated cells with round cytoplasm and peripherally attenuated nuclei were embedded in the upper part of the tumor. These vacuolated cells were clearly separated from the subcutaneous fat tissue (Fig. 2b). Based on these findings, a diagnosis of cutaneous lipomatous neurofibroma was made.
