Intestinal Intussusception in a Doberman Pup

The telescoping of one portion of the intestine into the other causing bowel obstruction is observed in puppies and kittens affecting mostly at the iliocaecal portion of the intestine (Krahwinkel and Richardson, 1983). Abnormalities in the peristalsisand parasitic overload play a key role for the occurrence of intussusceptions (Tiwari et al., 2009). Survey radiographs are useful in detecting radiopaque materials and contrast radiography is necessary in case of radiolucent foreign bodies (Rathod et al., 2010). The present study places on record the successful surgical management of intestinal intussusceptions in a Doberman pup.
