Managing Patients With Cardiovascular Disease: Challenging Cases

Dr. Len Fromer's presentation at the 2010 Hot Topics conference illustrated how to practice evidence-based health care and also continued his theme of emphasizing the patient-centered medical home model. This interactive lecture used a case study approach to discuss the many issues faced by patients who have cardiovascular conditions. The first case presented Ron, who complained of stomach pain. His past medical history included hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and unstable angina (UA), for which he was treated with a drug-eluting stent 10 months ago. His medications are met-formin, simvistatin, carvedilol, and aspirin.
