摘要

The blood profile of an animal provides a prospect to clinically investigate the presence of diverse metabolites and other constituents in the body of the animal and it plays a vital role in the assessment of physiological, nutritional and pathological status of an organism (Doyle 2006). Combined with hematology, the biochemical profile forms the data base for most diagnostic investigations. The information on hematology of adult horses (Satue et al. 2009, Vincze et al. 2010), foals up to one year ofage (Rubio et al. 1995) and equine neonates for the first 6 h of life (Doarn et al. 1987) is documented. However, no information is available regarding hematological and biochemical profiles of equine cord blood.
