摘要

The extremely well attended EMR workshop, held at the EMR Conference Centre in December, updated members in fruit production on the much-debated subject of residue levels through the supply chain, the use of pesticides and organic production protocols. The background to such information included the recognition of current compliance to Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs), the work of the Food Standards Agency and the contribution of analytical laboratory techniques to verifying compliance, and the currentscientific and technological work being undertaken to enable growers to further reduce the need for crop sprays and deliver 'zero residue' fruit to the consumer.
