EFFECT OF COMPLETE ANTIOXIDANT TABLET ON PLASMA ANTIOXIDANT ENZYMES, LIPID PEROXIDATION RATE, LIPID PROFILE AND URIC ACID LEVELS IN OBESE AND ALCOHOLIC HYPERTENSIVE PATIENTS

Hypertension is one of the most important causes of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. It has become a significant health problem in many developing countries. Age, obesity, alcohol consumption and high blood pressure are closely associated withincreasing risk of developing hypertension. The relevance of both hypertension and obesity, as important public health challenge, is increasing worldwide. Compared with the year 2000, the number of adults with hypertension is predicted to increase by 60per cent to a total of 1.56 billion by the year 2025. The growing prevalence of obesity and alcohol consumption is increasingly recognized as one of the most important risk factors for developing hypertension. Reports suggest that increased oxidative stress in accumulated fat is an important pathogenic mechanism of obesity and alcohol consumption associated metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome or multiple risk factors syndrome, which includes hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia and hypertension in the same individual, is a growing medical problem in industrialized countries.
