Editorial: The future for the British and Irish Orthoptic-Journal

摘要

In the time since the post of Editor was advertised, up to the time of writing (about 6 months into the role), I have given much thought to a variety of issues relating to the journal, including: the aim of the journal, peer review, composition of the editorial board, visibility of the journal and profile outside the profession, content of the journal, encouragement and support of young/ inexperienced orthoptic researchers/clinicians, attracting quality and original submissions, and where I would like to leave the journal in 6 years' time. The Major Review and Letter to the Editor by Carlton, Arblaster and Hughes in this issue are very timely and also discuss some of these points.1'2
