Indoor air quality (IAQ) has received increased attention as people spend more and more time indoors. Presently, people spend about 88% time of their indoors (Jones, 1999). This means that the indoor environment plays a very important role in human health. Among all types of indoor air pollutants, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) have received a great deal of attention from researchers, as many VOCs are carcinogenic, mutagenic, or teratogenic (Alberici and Jardim, 1997). Some typical VOCs present in indoor environment are summarized in Table 1.
