EPA/NHTSA propose GHG/fuel consumption standards for MY 2014-2018 medium and heavy duty trucks

In late October the EPA, along with the National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration (NHTSA), proposed new rules that require model year (MY) 2014-2018 medium and heavy duty (MD/HD) trucks (over 8500 pounds gross vehicle weight) to achieve from 7 to 20 percent reductions in CO_2 emissions and fuel consumption by 2018 depending on vehicle characteristics. The regulations are phased in becoming incrementally more stringent for each model year.
