摘要

The morbidity rate of breast cancer is increasing among Japanese woman in the same way as in Western countries (1,2). Nonpalpable microcalcified breast lesions, like duc-tal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), is also increasing in Japan due to mammogram screening (3-5). Image-detected biopsy is necessary to assess the nature of microcalcifica-tions seen on mammograms (6,7). Although the Mammo-tome device is becoming more available, it is expensive, and thus is not widely used in Japan. Furthermore, surgical biopsies remain the proven method for the final diagnosis of cancer (8). Here we report an easy method of incisional biopsy for nonpalpable breast lesions using nonionized contrast media. It is a useful method as a bridge to stereo-tactic Mammotome biopsies.
