An integrated energy market across the European Union could bring net economic benefits between ?16 billion and ?40 billion ($20 billion–$50 billion) each year, the European Commission says today in a statement on the challenges facing completion of an internal energy market. A single EU energy market is the most cost-effective way to ensure secure and affordable supplies for EU citizens and to mitigate climate change, according to the commission.
