How the Magazine Originated

During the annual conference of the Central Region at Des Moines in April 1928, representative of the Meredith Publishing Company of that city expressed a desire to give some sort of assistance to the cause of agricultural education. It occurred to certain members of the conference that the company might be willing to assist with a teachers' publication. The company's managers were approached and before the close of the conference a proposal for publishiing was submitted to a committee from the conference, headed by Z. M. Smith of Indiana. The conference unanimously approved the proposed arrangement and authorized a continuance of the committee, instructing it to bring the matter before the professional people of the other regions.
